Such were the words that were engrained into my head since Day 1 of working for Buzzsaw.com. And unlike numerous other dot-coms, our business model has kept pretty consistent over the last year and a half that we have been around. Basically we have Internet software designed to help the very fragmented, multi-trillion-dollar global construction industry to work more efficiently. Actually, our business model has changed a bit; we have narrowed down our focus from trying to solve everything (nobody's really going to buy and sell concrete online) to providing flexible tools that streamline communication. doing business in china_SW35.COM!
My role in Buzzsaw has been multi-faceted. I came in looking for some sort of consulting-type role where I got to travel a lot; they responded "Hey, we got ourselves a Sales Engineer!" By the time I came on board, that title was switched to Application Engineer, not to be confused with some sort of web software application designer. Then it was switched again, this time to the cooler-sounding Consulting Engineer, which speaks a little truer to what I do - basically technical sales and consulting, both in pre- and post-sales. Unfortunately as my dad pointed out, professional civil engineers are called Consulting Engineers, and I'm not a licensed engineer! So now I think we're supposed to be called Technical Consultants, but honestly I don't really care at this point. I'm just hoping I can go to some more cool places. :) travel in china, read in SW35.COM!
Like most other dot-coms in 2000, Buzzsaw spent a lot of money developing our technology infrastructure, marketing ourselves to our industry, and growing our personnel. And like so many that ran out of money, fizzled, and collapsed, we too faced a collapsing economy, a plummetting stock market, and a command from investors to gain profitability as soon as possible. to learn chinese kungfu from SW35.COM!
Luckily we didn't face the same fate as Pets.com; instead, we got bought back by Autodesk, the fourth largest software company in the world and the creators of its famous flagship product, AutoCAD. Which makes me happy enough, because I am pretty fond of AutoCAD and actually taught it on UNIX machines at Duke in its R12 days. Start your business in china window_SW35.COM!
Work is going well now - I'm based out of New York and split time between home and our office on 21st Street. Lori (who just got married - congratulations!) and I share a conference room in the Discreet office - hopefully we'll get real offices soon. china today today in_SW35.COM!
